CUCUMBER-TOMATO RAITA/KHEERA-TMAATAR RAITA /खीरे-टमाटर का रायता

Raita, a curd based side dish holds a special place in the Indian thalis. This is prepared with different veggies and even fruits also. As India faces hot climate most of the year, raita or plain curd is eaten with meals.

Curd based condiments whether raitas, lassi or chaas are loved by all age groups. All these keep the stomach cool and make the digestion easier. Even raita and chaas are regarded as medicines according to Ayurveda. Curd and curd based raitas are made tastier by adding some nutritious raw veggies, black salt, green herbs like coriander and mint and a few spices which are recommended for the easy digestion process. Such wonder spices are roasted cumin/jeera and crushed pepper etc

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

• Thick plain curd/Yogurt – 1 cup
• Cucumber (grated) 1 no
• Tomato/tamatar (finely chopped) – 1 no
• Black salt or plain salt – 1 tsp
Bhuna jeera-pudina masala – 1 tsp
• Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
• Fresh mint leaves – 1 tbsp (finely chopped)

STEP BY STEP

1- Whisk the curd well to break the lumps

2- Grate the cucumber and chop finely the tomato and mint/pudina

3- Mix the veggies with the curd

4- Add salt, red chilly powder and pudina-bhuna jeera masala

5- Serve tasty cucumber-tomato raita with the meal
6- This tasty raita goes well with PANEER PULAO
