These aloo-pyaz-bread pakode are prepared by coating assorted vegetables in a thick layer of spicy chickpea flour batter. Not only veggies, but green leafy vegetables also make tasty fritters. Because of their extraordinary taste and texture, pakode taste best during the monsoon and winter seasons. It is so hard to ignore a plateful of super hot, crunchy-crisp pakode on these wet and chilly days. A sprinkle of roasted cumin-based chaat masala increases the taste manifold

●  INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

• Bread Slices (white or brown) – 4 nos.
• Onions – 3 medium
• Potatoes  – 2 medium
• Besan/Chickpea Flour  – 1 cup
• Rice Flour – 2 tbsp (optional)
• Salt – 2 tsp
• Red chilly powder  – 1 tsp
• Roasted cumin powder  – 1 tsp
• Cumin/Jeera seeds – 1 tsp
• Carom/Ajwain seeds  – 1 tsp
• Oil for deep frying  – Sufficient enough
• Water for batter – 3-4 tbsp or sufficient enough to make a tightly thick batter

●  PREPARATIONS TO BE DONE

1 – Peel and slice onions very thinly


2 – Peel and grate potatoes. Dunk into water and strain to get rid of extra starch. Squeeze them tightly to discard water


3 – Cut each bread slice into four pieces

●  HOW TO MAKE CRISP ALOO-PYAZ-BREAD KE PAKODE

1 – Take a mixing bowl and add thinly sliced onions

2 – Add grated Potatoes, and fresh coriander leaves with their stems to the onions(coriander stems increase the flavours)

3 – Add salt, red chilly powder,  roasted cumin powder,  jeera, and ajwain seeds

4 – Combine all the ingredients mixing and smashing, especially the onions. They will release some water

5 – Add besan and rice flour and combine them well with onions and grated potatoes (combine the flours with your hand)

6 – Add a little water at intervals and mix it with your hand to make a thick batter.  Add Sufficient water(3-4 tbsp)to make the batter. (Plz be cautious that the batter should not be runny) Keep the batter at rest for 15 minutes

7 – Now, dip each bread piece into the batter. Spread the batter evenly on the slice and drop into hot oil

8 – Add 3or 4 pieces at one time and allow it to fry until golden brown

9 – Flip carefully each slice to deep-fry the other side. When the pakode are fried both sides, take each out of the oil and place on an absorbent paper

10 – Serve the tasty and crisp bread-aloo-pyaz ke pakode with green chutney and tomato ketchup
