CHICKPEA KEBAB/CHANA KEBAB /A  HEALTHY STARTER

Chickpea or chana kebabs are a perfect starter or evening snack. These easy to cook patties have a fuss-free process. Only two main ingredients(boiled chana/chickpeas and potatoes) are required and if they are ready in hands, the yummy chickpea kebabs get ready in 10-15 minutes. No other binding agent has been used so, prepared super soft and melt in the mouth😋 Roasted cumin/jeera powder lifts the flavour to give a particular kebab flavour

These chickpea kebabs are inspired by Mediterranean cuisine. The natives from the countries which surround the Mediterranean Sea consume a lot of beans and legumes in their regular diet. Chickpea is one of them. From dips to snacks and curries, they make a number of dishes with chana/chickpea which is one of the healthiest legumes. I have served these yummy kebabs with BEETROOT HUMMUS which  goes well with these kebabs lifting their taste to the next level

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

• Boiled chana/chickpeas – 1 cup
• Boiled aloo/potatoes – 2 medium
• Finely chopped onions – 2 tbsp
• Finely chopped ginger – 1 tsp or to taste
• Finely chopped green chilly(optional) – 1 no
• Cumin seeds/ jeera – 1 tsp
• Finely chopped cashew/kaju and raisen/kishmish – 1 tbsp together
• Roasted cumin/Bhuna jeera powder – 1 tsp
• Salt – To taste
• Red chilly powder – 1 tsp or to taste
• Finely chopped coriander leaves
• Oil – 2 tbsp


WALKTHROUGH

1- Take a mixing bowl and add boiled chickpeas and potatoes. Mash them well and add other ingredients except oil. Mix all the ingredients with hand or a masher to incorporate everything well. Make a dough

2- Divide the dough into equal portions and shape each like kebabs

3- Refrigerate for 10 minutes to set. Heat oil in a pan and add the chana patties. Allow them to cook at low flame both sides until they get crisp and golden brown

4- Serve the yummy chickpea kebabs with BEETROOT HUMMUS

NOTES AND TIPS

* You can add 2 tsp of roasted besan or chana powder as a binding agent. This will make the kebabs a little firmer
