GREEN MUNG DAL TOAST/ A HEALTHY START OF THE DAY /मूंग दाल टोस्ट

Loaded with proteins, the skinned or whole mung dal (mung chilka and sabut dal) make extraordinary dishes which are quite filling and tasty. As this dal is with its skin, so provides adequate fibre for the proper function of our digestive system

To make mung dal toast, mung dal is soaked and ground into a batter along with a few aromatics and seasoning. Bread slices are dipped into the batter to pan-fry using oil or ghee. These taste great when served hot with a few chutneys. Hope you too would try them in your kitchen. Let’s start making the yummy mung dal toast with me

Prep time – 60 minutes (prep time requires soaking dal)
Cook time – 15 minutes

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

• Green mung dal(skinned) – 1 cup
• Water for soaking+some for grinding
• Ginger – 1-inch piece
• Green chilly – 1-2 or to taste
• Fresh coriander with stems – 5-6 springs
• Salt – 1 tsp/to taste
• Roasted cumin/jeera powder
• Ghee/oil – 4-5 tsp
• Bread slices – 5-6 (white or brown)

DIRECTIONS
1- Wash and soak dal for 1 hour into sufficient water

2- Add all the ingredients except oil to a grinder and grind to a paste. add sufficient water

3- Transfer the batter to a bowl.

4- Cut each bread slice into half and dip them into the batter

5- Heat a frying pan and add oil/ghee. Add battered bread slices

6- Spread some ghee on top of each toast and flip them to cook the other side until they get a golden colour

7- Serve the tasty and healthy mung dal toasts with green chutney and tomato ketchup

NOTES
If you don’t have skinned mung dal, whole mung dal can be replaced with it

Feel free to add finely chopped veggies to the mung dal batter
