MURMURA POHA / PUFFED RICE POHA/ SUPER HEALTHY, TASTY, AND LIGHT BREAKFAST
No other cuisine of the world has explored the usage of rice grain in incredibly versatile ways as Indian cuisine has done. We eat it by boiling, steaming, as the flour after grinding, flattened into poha, puffed into Murmura, grinding into batter for dosa, idlis ; and many more!
The puffed form of rice is called Murmura. It is used to prepare several dishes from light snacks to sweet meat by adding jaggery. Murmura is a low-calorie, low-fat, gluten-free snack that promotes digestive health. It is high in carbohydrates and low in sodium. It should be part of our daily diet. Being high in fiber, Murmura is beneficial for digestion and gut health. It is a good munching snack for weight watchers.
Today’s recipe is a poha prepared with Murmura/puffed rice. This wonderful ingredient prepares a very light yet wholesome breakfast. Peanuts, a few aromatics, and several veggies are added to elavate the flavors. This breakfast is quick to cook that gets ready in 15 minutes. This is very convenient to carry in tiffin. This Murmura poha keeps you fill for hours. Let’s start making this tasty and healthy poha with Puffed Rice

● INGREDIENTS REQUIRED
• Murmura/ Puffed Rice – 100 g
• Water to soak murmura – 4-5 glasses
• Raw peanuts – 1/2 cup
• Finely chopped onions – 1 large
• Finely chopped capsicum – 1 small
• Finely chopped carrot – 1 medium
• Finely chopped ginger – 1 tsp
• Finely chopped green chilies – 1-2 nos.
• Oil – 2 tbsp
• Cumin/Jeera – 1 tsp
• Mustard/Sarso Seeds – 1 tsp
• Dry red chilly whole – 1 no
• Salt – To taste
• Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
• Turmeric/Haldi powder – 1 tsp
• Curry Leaves – 2-3 springs
• Lemon juice from half a lemon
● HOW TO MAKE MURMURA POHA
1- Firstly, soak murmura in water for exactly five minutes
2- When soaked, squeeze gently and collect them in another bowl. Keep aside and prepare to make tasty murmura poha (there must be some moisture in the Murmura)
3- Heat oil in a kadahi and add raw peanuts. Fry them to golden brown. When fried, take them out to use later
4- In the same oil add now cumin, mustard seeds, whole red chilly, and curry leaves. Allow all the spices to splatter.
5- Next, add chopped ginger and green chilies. Add now chopped onions, carrots, and capsicum . Cook them for a while to retain the crunch
6- Add all the powdered spices (turmeric and red chilly powder) and salt. Mix well and add lemon juice. Combine nicely
7- Add soaked murmura and combine well all the ingredients.
8- Add fried peanuts at this stage. Combine well all the ingredients
9- Serve the super tasty and healthy murmura poha (puffed rice poha) as a first meal of the day. Enjoy 😋❤️
