Spinach Bread |
I fee that baking my own bread at home has become a passion for me.Kneading and proving the dough and the aroma of bread while baking it gives me pleasure.
I love to bake breads with different flavours. I go on experimenting with the different flavours.Last time when I baked a caramelized onion bread, it was so much liked in my family.😊 A generous amount of any spread or butter on a fresh- warm bread slice is just divine🍞
This spinach bread is versatile as it can be served in dinner with curries.My family likes to have this bread with egg-masala-curry.. Roasted garlic adds a unique flavour to this spinach bread
INGREDIENTS -:
All purpose flour/maida – 200 gms or 1 cup
Whole wheat flour – 200 gms or 1 cup
Instant dry yeast – 3 gms or 1 sachet( I used Yellow Crumb)
Spinach – 1 cup (finely chopped and blanched )
Crushed garlic – 2 tsp (slightly roasted in oil )
Crushed garlic – 2 tsp (slightly roasted in oil )
Sugar – 1tbsp
Salt – 2 tsp
Oil – 2 tbsp+ little more while kneading the dough
Lukewarm water – 250 ml or 1 cup (I used leftover water after blanching the spinach)
Greased bread mould – 1 no.
Preparation time – 90 minutes
(Preparation includes kneading, proving the dough and blanching of spinach)
Baking time – 40-45 minutes at 180℃
METHOD -:
In a half cup of lukewarm water add sugar and mix until dissolved.Add yeast and mix.Leave for 5 to 7minutes to bloom
Mix both kinds of flour add salt and oil.Add chopped spinach and garlic and mix well with hands
Slowly add yeast water and mix.add sufficient water as required to knead the dough with soft hands for 7-8 minutes. Use oil and flour while kneading as this is very sticky
Collect the dough and cover with damp kitchen cloth and keep it warm place for 1 hour.You will see that the dough has become double in size
Punch the dough to release air and again knead it with oily hands and make a log to place it in prepared bread mould
Again keep at warm place for half an hour to raise it
Finally, bake it for 40-45 minutes at 180 ℃.Let it in the oven for 10 minutes and unmould the bread
Keep it on wire rack to cool completely
Note -:
* Quantity of water depends on quality of flour
* Baking time varies oven to oven
* Be gentle with the dough.Knead with soft hands
*A nicely baked bread gives hollow sound on tapping
