OATS COATED/ CRUSTED FISH RECIPE
The two main ingredients + the most pleasant sizzling sound in the kitchen when a fish fillet is added to a pan into the hot oil. The two main ingredients are the fish and the oats and the outcome is surely awesome. Trust me, you would love these oats coated pan-fried fish as I do. I serve this fish with caramelized pineapple slices, CORIANDER-GREEN ONION CHUTNEY and ORANGE CHUTNEY which take the flavours of this dish to another level. I make various dips and chutneys with the meats but no other condiment tastes better than this citrus relish
You start drooling with the very first step of marinating fish and then coating it with seasoned oats and finally the pan-frying. You can deep fry the fish, this makes it tastier but a little unhealthy on the other hand. I love to pan-fry the fish because it does not take much time to cook. Sooo fresh, soft and flaky that each bite of it is worth enjoying!

INGREDIENTS TO MARINATE FISH FILLETS
• Medium-sized fish fillets – 6-8 (I bought singara fish )
• Salt – 1 tsp
• Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
• crushed black pepper – 2 tsp
INGREDIENTS FOR THE FINAL DISH
• Marinated fish fillets
• Rolled Oats – 1 cup
• Egg – 1 no
• Salt – 1 tsp to season the oats + a pinch to season the egg
• Red chilly powder – 1 tsp to season the oats+ a pinch to season the egg
• Mixed dried herbs (Italian) – 1 tsp to season the oats+a pinch to season the egg
• Sufficient oil for pan-frying
• Butter – 1 tsp
STEP BY STEP
1- Marinate fish fillets with salt and lemon juice. Rub the fish fillets both sides with them and keep aside covered for 20 minutes
2- Take oats in a broad bowl and season with salt, red chilly powder and mixed herbs. Keep aside. Beat the egg and season with salt, red chilly powder and mixed herbs
3- Keep the pan with oil on the stove at medium heat. Firstly dip the fish fillets into beaten egg to coat well
4- Next, roll the fillet into seasoned oats. Press with fingers so that oats stick with the fish. Prepare all the fillets like this
5- Add fillets to the hot oil and cook at low flame till they turn golden both sides. Apply butter at this stage.
- Butter adds the flavour as well as helps to get a golden colour
6- It takes approx 10 -12 minutes to cook the fillets both sides at low-medium flame
7- When the fish is ready, serve with caramelized pineapple slices, CORIANDER-GREEN ONION CHUTNEY and ORANGE CHUTNEY
NOTES
1- Always buy fresh fish. You can test its freshness by its shining and firm flesh
2- You can deep fry the fish instead of pan-frying
