TIL-KHOYA LADOO /WINTER SPECIAL/LOHRI/MAKAR SANKRANTI TIL-KHOYA LADOO

The harvest festivals that fall during winters in India do not complete without consuming sesame seeds or tils. These tiny seeds are the storehouse of several essential minerals and oils. These have warm effects on the body, so beneficial to eat during winters. Several  goodies are prepared using these seeds whether sweet or savory

I too make different dishes using til. When paired with jaggery, its medicinal properties increase to the number folds. In these til-khoya ladoos, I have used khoya(mawa/milk solid) to make it so tasteful as well as rich in texture. When khoya, til and gur are combined, a wow outcome is there in the form of such incredibly  tasty Indian traditional sweet which is definitely irresistible to enjoy
So, let’s have a look at the step by step easy recipe!

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED FOR TIL-KHOYA LADOO

• khoya/mawa – 1/2 cup(150 gms
• White Til/Sesame seeds – 200 gms
• Gur/jaggery – 200 gms
• Ilayachi powder – 1 tsp
• Broken cashew/kaju tukra – 1/4 cup
• Ghee – 1 tsp
• Water – 2-3 tsp

PREPARATIONS TO BE DONE
1- Dry roast til in a nonstick pan at low flame until golden

2- When til is cooled down completely, grind coarsely
half of the quantity and keep the other half as it is

3- Chop gur/jaggery into smaller bits and keep aside

STEP BY STEP
1- Take a nonstick kadahi and add 1 tsp ghee. When heated, add gur(jaggery)and stir. Add water and allow the gur to melt. Keep stirring continuously with a spatula until gur melts perfectly

2- When you see the big bubbles in the melted gur it means this is cooked well or do a water test. Drop a few drops into a bowl full of water and collect. If it makes a semi hardball, the gur is cooked to perfection

3- Next, add immediately the crumbled khoya and mix well. When khoya is mixed well, switch off the flame at this stage

4- Add cashew, cardamom powder, whole and ground til and mix well with a wooden spatula. The mix should be well incorporated.

5- When all the ingredients are incorporated well, transfer this mix to a thali and allow to cool a little

6- If the mix is still hot, dip your hand into the water and make ladoos of equal size. Garnish each with a Kaju tukra

7- Tasty and healthy Til-Khoye ke ladoo are ready to enjoy during the winter festivities
