Tofu or bean curd has gained a lot of popularity for past few years.Its a vegan product prepared with soybeans, highly recommended by the nutritionists for those who are seeking for weight loss.
This versatile product is a great source of amino acid, iron and calcium.Those who are allergic to dairy products are recommended to add tofu to their diet
.Though bland in taste so should be cooked with other flavours.I have cooked this in Thai style using the seasoning like soy sauce, honey and red chillies.Honey balances the acidity of soy sauce and gives the dish a glaze.
Toasted sesame seeds and crushed peanuts give a crunch to it.A pineapple-cucumber salad gives a colourful n fresh company to this dish.
Preparation time ( which includes marination time also) – 30 minutes

INGREDIENTS-;
Tofu( cut into desired sized cubes – 200 gms
Dark soy sauce – 2 tablespoons
Oil (any light refined oil) – 2 tablespoons
Honey – 2 tbsp
Grated ginger – 2 tsp
Grated garlic – 2 tsp
Fresh red chilly flakes (Thai bird chilly if available) – 2 tsp
Salt – to taste or 1 tsp
(Soy sauce is little salty so advisable to use less salt)
Chopped spring onion – 1/4 cup

INGREDIENTS FOR TOPPING
Toasted and crushed peanuts – 1/4 cup
Toasted sesame seeds – 2 tbspINGREDIENTS FOR SALAD -:
Diced pineapple – 1 cup
Diced cucumber – 1 cup
METHOD FOR MARINATION –
Mix all the ingredients in a flat base dish except tofu cubes
Now add tofu and give a good message so that they absorb all the flavours
Cover it and keep at rest for 25 minutes
METHOD -:
Heat a pan and add chopped spring onion and saute. Now add marinated tofu
Sauté both sides on low medium heat
Add all the leftover marination to the dish.This will add the amazing flavours and aromas.
TIME FOR PLATING
Keep the salad as a base
Place the cooked tofu over salad
Add some toasted peanuts and sesame seeds for crunch
